Urgent - Your help is needed! As a no-kill feline shelter, LAPS has always provided a quality of veterinary care, including spaying and neutering, for all cats and kittens served by our organization. In 2010, this resulted in veterinary expenses in excess of $45,000. To help LAPS defray our costs in 2011, and continue to provide necessary veterinary care, please make a tax-deductible donation directly to: Loyalsock Animal Hospital; Attn: LAPS Veterinary Bill, 1900 Northway Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
Please see our How To Help page for information relating to adopting or sponsoring a kitty, making a donation to LAPS, being a volunteer at L.A.P.S., L.A.P.S. Membership, our aluminum can program, and our current Wish List for items needed for the every day care of our shelter's cats and kittens.
During any given year, over 6 million animals (more than the entire human population of Missouri) enter shelters and become homeless. Over 50% of them are euthanized due to overcrowding or health issues related to abuse and neglect. The sad animals you see in the t.v. commercials, which are so difficult to watch, are real. Those animals, and many more like them, really do exist. Read more here.![]()

This position is open for Saturday evenings. Duties would include, food water, litter scooping and meds. Humans will assist in training. Are you without a Saturday night date, well our cats are here to fill that void in your life for just some general care and attention. All candidates would need to be open to purrs, leg rubs, and general attentions from all the felines in residence. If you or someone you know might fit into this position, please give THE LAPS CATS a call at 327-8707. Time on Saturday evenings is flexible to fit candidates needs and time constraints. HELP WANTED: Meds givers. THE LAPS CATS are looking for a couple of people within the organization or within the email field of Williamsport area to learn to give meds and be able to fill in when the staff is shorthanded. It seems a number of volunteers have family obligations that take them away from their shelter duties for a time so we need a few new, dedicated people to fill in at times of need. Do you have vet tech experience or medical knowledge? This would be a plus, but certainly not necessary as we have staff willing to train. If interested in helping the cats, please call 327-8707 or apply to lapsshelter@windstream.net
